SUMMARY:2027 Weston Creek Half Marathon and 10km Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:Weston Creek Athletics Club (Canberra Redbacks) is proud to announce the 41st running of our iconic Half Marathon on Sunday 21 March 2027\, along with our 10 km Community Fun Run. \nThe Race Results portal for registrations opens on 16 October 2026. \nShould the event not be able to take place on 21 March 2027 for any reason then participants will be notified of a rescheduled date. \nFees: \n\n\n\nIndividual Fees\nHalf Marathon\n10km Fun Run\n\n\nEarly Bird \n16 Oct 2026 -midnight 30 Nov 2027\n$60.00\n$30.00\n\n\nRegular Entry \n1 Dec 2026 – midnight 31 Jan 2027\n$75.00\n$40.00\n\n\nLate Registration \n1 Feb 2027 – midnight 18 Mar 2027\n$95.00\n$50.00\n\n\nOn the Day (limited\, if available) \n21 Mar 2027\n$120.00\n$60.00\n\n\n\nRelay Teams of two or three runners: $90.00 from 16 Oct 2026 to midnight 18 Mar 2027 \nRace Information: \nRace Bibs may be collected from the Runners Shop\, Colbee Court Phillip\, from 09:00 on Thursday 12th March to 17:00 Saturday 14th March\, or from 06:30 before the race on Sunday morning at the race starting area near the main toilet block at Black Mountain Peninsula. Please allow sufficient time to collect your bib if you intend leaving bib collection to the Sunday morning. \nThere is a time cut-off for completion of the Half Marathon of 3 hours 30 minutes. \nInjuries Policy: We offer three options if the injury occurs up to two weeks from the event start: \n\nTransfer you from the Half Marathon to the 10 km Fun Run event\, if you can run that far (at the Half Marathon price).\nBe transferred to the 2028 event\, or\nArrange a refund if the injury is debilitating.\n\nYou will need to email robbie.costmeyer@bigpond.com to arrange any of these options\, which must be exercised before 7th March 2027. \nRace Day Details: \nIn the online registration you will be asked for an accurate estimate of you finishing time. You will be allocated a start wave based on this information and you will be notified by email in the week before the race. You must start in your allocated wave or you will not receive a result. No wave change requests will be allowed. \nThe first wave of the Half Marathon will start at 08:00 while the second wave will start at 08:15. The 10km Fun Run will start at 08:30. \nThe start line for both events has been moved to the finish line\, making it an out and back course.  This obviates the need to close Gary Owen Drive.  Please congregate at the main toilet block at the far end of Black Mountain Peninsula before the race to collect your bib\, if you have not already done so\, and receive a briefing. \nPlease ensure that you cross over the e-timing mat at the start of the race to ensure that you are timed. With some luck\, this event may again coincide with the Balloon Festival\, which would present some spectacular views along the course. \nClothing and other gear may be left under cover near the start line where the presentations will take place after the race. \nToilets: In addition to access to the main toilet block near the start line\, we will have four (4) Portaloos on site this year. There are three public toilets at the Red Shed\, but they prefer that use of these be limited to their patrons. \nThere will be hot cross buns\, fruit and drinks in the presentation area after you finish. \nRelay Teams: The first runner will start with the rest of the individual runners\, carrying a baton with an electronic chip (rather than an e-bib)\, which they hand to the next runner at the changeover point. The second and third Relay runners must find their own way to the changeover points. For teams of three\, the 7 and 14 km mark are at the same spot\, which is on the bike path going out just before the Cotter Road Bridge. For Relay teams of two the change-over point is at the event turn around point at 11.1 km. \nAwards Presentation: \nA formal presentation ceremony will be conducted after the event to present medals\, accompanying gift vouchers and many lucky draw prizes. It is planned to commence the presentations for the 10km around 09:45 and the half marathon around 10:15 am. Gift vouchers and medals not collected on the day may be collected from the Runners Shop in Colbee Court\, Phillip at your convenience. \nCanberra Redback medals for place getters will be engraved\, and Runners Shop gift vouchers will be awarded to the first three males and females of both the half marathon and 10km. The first male and first female in the half marathon will receive a keepsake trophy and have their names engraved on the perpetual trophy. Masters age group M/F 40\, 45\, etc to 80) winners in both events will receive Runners Shop vouchers and an engraved Canberra Redbacks medal. There will be an abundance of random pre-drawn barrel draws with gift vouchers\, wine or physiotherapy exercise aids as prizes. \n  \nFurther details about the event will be emailed to entrants prior to the day. \nWelcome back past participants! Invite your friends to join you in the running of this iconic annual event. \nThere will be a couple of masseurs from Positive Motion Physio adjacent to the presentation area should you wish a 10-minute massage for a small fee. \nThe Red Shed welcomes runners to have breakfast there after the presentations. \n\n
