SUMMARY:2020 Weston Creek Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n Register Now\n.\n  Download Entry Form\n  \nThe Weston Creek Half Marathon and 10k Community fun run has been rescheduled for Sunday the 18th of October 2020. All precautions will be taken to minimise any risk from COVID-19 spreading. The water stations will have pop up water bottles available and the food and water available after the race will be individually pre-packaged. \nThe number of participants in the Half Marathon will be limited to 300\, including relay teams. The 10k community fun run will be limited to 150. There will be no late entries on the day. Entry costs for new participants will remain at $65 for individuals and $80 for relay teams in the Half Marathon and $50 for the 10km Community fun run. \nShould the risk to volunteers and participants be considered by the race organisers to be too risky\, based on the current medical advice\, a decision to cancel the 2020 event will be promulgated to participants by COB Friday 9 October. All registered participants would then be offered a free and automatic entry to the 2021 event\, scheduled for Sunday 14 March 2021. \nInstructions\nElectronic timing bibs and race numbers need to be collected on the day at the far end of Garryowen drive on Black Mountain Peninsula\, which is the location of the start line. Please arrive at least 30-40mins before your respective event to enable everyone to receive their bib in a timely fashion and for the race to start on time. \nWe will transport athletes gear left at the start line to the finish area (the northern end of John Cardiff Close). Timing bibs need to be returned after the event otherwise an additional fee of $5 will be incurred. Live results and photos from the event will be available on our social media page (Weston Creek Athletics Club) and website shortly after the event. \nFor safety reasons\, no dogs or strollers are permitted in the event. The event has a cut-off time of 2 hours 30 minutes for the Half Marathon.\nPost event there will be an awards ceremony followed by numerous barrel draws but all present will need to maintain ‘individual distancing rules’. We will have a PA system so everyone will be able to hear the proceedings without needing to crowd together. \nThe Event Schedule is as follows: \n\nPublic toilets open at 6:00 am\nBib Collection: From 6:30am\nHalf Marathon start: 7:30am\n10k Community Fun Run start: 8:00am\nAwards Ceremony + Barrel draws: post event commence at 10:30\n\n Register Now\nor \n  Download Entry Form\n  \nIndividual runners: $65.00 . Entries close 15 October.\nRelay teams: $80.00 per relay team . Entries close 12 October. \nNOTE: No late entries on the day. \nRelay teams comprised of two or three runners (two legs x 10.55 km or three legs of 7 km\, 7km and 7.1 km). \nNote: this event will be electronically timed and all bibs must be returned after the event or an additional payment of $5 will be requested. \nCourse Description \nThe course starts at the end of Garryowen Drive on Black Mountain Peninsula. Runners will proceed along Garryowen Drive and turn left onto the shared path just before Lady Denman Drive. Runners then proceed along the shared path\, (keeping to the left hand side) around West Basin and over Scrivener dam\, where a few hundred metres after the dam the 10k course turns around. The Half Course continues along the shared paths past the ovals at Curtin\, under McCulloch Street and adjacent to Yarra Glen. The shared path then crosses under Melrose Drive and passes the pitch n putt in Woden. Shortly after runners turn and retrace their steps to Black Mountain Peninsula. Here they turn right onto the bike path near the rowing sheds and enter John Cardiff Close for the finish. \nThere are two drink stations on the course\, which are visited twice\, once out and once back\, situated at the 4km and 8 km mark\, and there will be a lead bike for both events. \nFor further details of the course click here.
