Weston Creek Athletics Club ACT

Registration Support Policy

Weston Creek Athletics Club supports a number of its elite athletes by paying for their ACT Athletics registration.

To be eligible for registration support an athlete should be competing at National level; that is be selected to compete at an Australian championships. The club also requires supported athletes be willing to represent the club in the local interclub competition. This includes both Winter and Summer competitions. Weston Creek sees performances at these meets as vital to its success as a club.

The following are the requirements to receive registration support from Weston Creek Athletics Club:

  • Represent the ACT (or another state at National schools championships) at schools, junior or senior Australian championships in track and field, cross country, road running, road walking, mountain running; OR
  • Represent Australia at a junior or senior World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games or other equivalent level;

AND

  • Represent the Weston Creek Athletics Club in the Winter Cross Country Senior or Junior Point score events or in ACT Interclub track and field competition on five separate occasions. Athletes must wear the Weston Creek uniform and, in the case of Winter point score events, be a member (at the athletes cost) of the ACT Cross Country Club.

The above does not include veterans or masters representation.

For new athletes joining the club, once they achieve the above requirements they are eligible to have their registration reimbursed by Weston Creek. An email should be sent to the Registrar listing the events which they have competed in to satisfy the criteria above. The committee will consider the request at the next committee meeting, and once approved the Treasurer, will provide reimbursement to the athlete. The committee can also approve sponsoring the registration of athletes that do not fulfil the above criteria due to special circumstances.

Athletes who have fulfilled the above policy in the previous season for Weston Creek are eligible to have their registration paid in advance for the coming season.

All athletes are required to pay the club membership fee (currently $10).

This policy commences from the 2006/07 season.
